Baseball Team 

The Cochise College baseball program has had a proud and rich baseball tradition over the past two decades. The 2008 Apaches made their fourth playoff appearance in five years in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference. The 2008 Apaches closed the regular season with a 37-18 record, at one point winning 15 in a row. Cochise College also walked away with the Pima Wood Bat Tournament Championship. The team ranked as high as No. 14 in a National Junior College Athletics Association poll. The 2007 team won the ACCAC championship with a 43-18 record, competing in their third Region I championship in four years and finishing ranked seventh in the country.  The Apaches won back-to-back Region I championships and made consecutive trips to the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colo., in 1988 and 1989m finishing seventh and third in the nation. In 1993, the Apaches produced another outstanding season that concluded with a runner-up finish in the Region I finals.slider

Members include Arizona Western, Central Arizona, Chandler-Gilbert, Eastern Arizona, Glendale, Mesa, Phoenix, Gateway, Scottsdale, South Mountain, and Yavapai colleges, as well as Cochise College. The conference and regional champion is regularly a top contender for the JUCO national championship. In addition, the ACCAC is one of the conferences most heavily recruited by professional baseball scouts and university coaches. The ACCAC has won 12 National Junior College championships and is one of the most heavily recruited regions in college baseball by professional baseball and Division I schools. Cochise has proved to be a stepping stone to the professional ranks and Division I college baseball. Our program has sent more than 40 players to the professional ranks with nearly 100 percent placement to the four-year level.
During Coach Todd Inglehart’s seven-year tenure at Cochise College, he has had many players move on to the Division I level. Due to the Apaches’ work ethic and hard-nose style of play, many Division I schools are very interested in getting players from our program. Over the past years, schools in the Pac-10, Big-10, SEC, A-10, Conference USA, Mountain West, and West Coast Conference have given scholarships to players from Cochise.

Academics
Cochise is a two-year, fully accredited community college in southeastern Arizona near the city of Douglas, approximately one hour and forty-five minutes from Tucson. Equipped with dormitories and a full-service cafeteria, Cochise College is an excellent institution offering associate degrees and transfer programs, as well as technical and vocational training programs. Apache coaches stress academic responsibility and achievements as top priorities for their student-athletes.

Academics are a high priority in our program. The Apache baseball program has achieved a GPA above 3.0 for 15 out of the last 16 semesters. The 2008 Apaches maintained a 3.32 team GPA, which was sixth in the nation. Grade checks are issued every other week to all of the student-athlete’s instructors so that the coaches can maintain constant monitoring of all classes.

Facilities, Practice and Games
The Douglas Campus is located in southern Arizona and is blessed with some of the finest baseball playing weather in the United States with a yearly average temperature of 80 degrees. Apache field is a highly attractive junior college facility located on the Douglas Campus. This scenic facility is complemented with two batting tunnels and five bullpen mounds. Students have access to an Olympic-size swimming pool, a highly productive weight room, a wellness center, and a trainer’s room.   Apache coaches determine scholarship amounts and offerings based on evaluations of talent and consideration of available resources. In addition, other scholarships, grants, waivers, loans and work-study arrangements are possible through the Cochise College Financial Aid Office. All prospective student-athletes should complete and file the Family Financial Aid packet to determine whether or not they qualify for financial assistance.pitch
The Apache fall program begins in late August and runs until the week before finals in December. The fall schedule includes tryouts, practice, intrasquads, and up to a 20-game fall schedule. A Red vs. White World Series concludes the official fall season in December. The spring schedule consists of 56 games, 38 of which are ACCAC conference games. Non-conference games are played against out-of-state teams from California, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, Nevada, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, and Washington.
Cochise College offers a high-quality academic experience and an excellent baseball program that is committed to the development of the individual athlete, as well as producing championship teams. Cochise is the place where student athletes can successfully pursue their academic and baseball goals.
